All human interactions and relationships are directly influenced by our state of mind, and by a very important element, communication.
Paul Watzlawick, the main promoter of the theory of human communication, proposes within what he called, axioms of communication, a fundamental element, it is impossible not to communicate. Starting from here, it is very important to learn to communicate in such a way that our feelings, ideas and desires are transmitted to others with clarity, security and respect.
Assertive communication is the ability to express what we feel, want and think, in a fluid, direct and clear way. It is the ability to communicate to validate what we feel, but respecting the feelings and thoughts of others at all times.
In this way, assertiveness is not only a means to improve interpersonal relationships and avoid conflicts, but it also allows us to have the confidence to advocate for our rights and needs, it gives us the ability to set limits and be consistent with ourselves. .
